Two years ago, we launched an experiment: an online image library where we made 2,000 high-resolution images of artworks that the museum deemed to be in the public domain available for download without any restrictions.  This week, we’ve exceeded ourselves with the launch of our new collections website, giving away ten times the number of images we offered in the initial image library. Nearly 20,000 high-quality images of art from our collection are available to search, download, and use as you see fit.

Dear Tumblr-verse,
Merry Christmas: we just gave you 20,000 high-resolution images, for free. Now we have just one question: what are you going to do with them?

This is relevant to this blog XD

Dear Wang Fire,

I am contemplating going to ComicCon San Diego this summer, what do you think?

I apologize for the delay in posts, but I am still recovering from food poisoning.

Damn you sea-prunes, I mean salad bar.

Off Topic Mulan Post: The Huns are invading China!

This is something that a) has been bugging me for a while, b) I’ve talked about with friends more than once.

Now, I am aware why they went with ‘Huns’ instead of ‘Mongols’, well since, practically nothing rhymes with Mongols or Xiongnu, but …

Even though the Huns and the Mongols are related, it’s a bit like saying ‘Greece burned Carthage to the ground’. Close, but yet …

Who are the people in the picture:

Attila the Hun: The main villain is definitely modeled on Attila the Hun, who ruled over big parts of Europe around 434. He never invaded ‘China’.

Genghis Khan, founder of the great Mongol Empire, on the other hand, did. He sieged and razed what is now Beijing to the ground in 1213 CE.

His grandson, Kublai Khan, rebuilt the city, but he did not build the Forbidden City.

That palace was build by the Yongle Emperor, whom, at least appearance-wise, the Mulan Emperor is modeled. He also was the one who defeated the Mongols.

If you’re wondering what Bismarck is doing in the pic: Ever since WWI, “Huns” has been used to describe Germans.

Note: “To those saying they used the Huns because they do not exist as a people anymore.” This is only partially true. Hungary is a real country, and:

The Magyars (Hungarians) in particular lay claim to Hunnic heritage.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, off topic, but damn I want this scene in my canon. Hallo creators, you listening?!?!

Hallo Singapore, here we come!

I do remember some people who read my blog being from/living in Singapore. I will be spending two days there in January and I’d love some pointers, since I want to make the most of my time there.I’ve been reading up on travel-wiki, but I’d love your input.

What are the most-dos? What places to avoid?

Thanks :D

obligatory question mark?

Just think about a whole tree full of those… This is exactly the kind of tree I image to grow in the Spirit World. In Koh’s garden.

That’s why normal pears have no faces. Koh took them.
