Why ATLA is AMAZING and this kind of comment annoying

Yes, the show is not historically accurate, because it is not a historical drama. It is a fantasy world that draws on real cultures and events.

There is a difference and acting like they just pulled things out of thin air annoys the hell out of me, and it is incredibly disrespectful to their work.

I really do not get people like this. They get shown that the creators did amazing amounts of research to get things right and then they turn around and go: Meeeh, who cares, I bet they didn’t mean to spend those hours doing research for their work.

The amazing world building sets their work apart from all the mediocre shitty mass-produced cartoons out there. I pity you if you cannot tell which is which.

Toph’s Family is wearing Tang Dynasty clothing.

Throughout all atla nations we can see people wear different types of hanfu.

Hanfu 汉服 or Han Chinese Clothing, or Chinese Silk Robe refers to the historical dress of the Han Chinese people, which was worn for millennia before the conquest by the Manchus and the establishment of the Qing Dynasty in 1644.

The style we see Toph and her mother wear is from the Tang dynasty.

Note: The whole of the atla universe is a collage of China through the ages, with one dynasty prevalent in on specific region, with added outside influences i.e. Fire Nation architecture is strongly influenced by Thai architecture.

I really enjoy doing this blog, and I appreciate all the support you guys have shown and keep on showing me. You guys are great, really!

But …

There are a few loud voices who seem to be surprised that I am also a real person, you know, with feelings and opinions.

If you think I’ve been argumentative lately…

You are only seeing the tip of the iceberg of pms I am getting. I get a lot of them, and many of the more offensive just get deleted without any response at all. I prefer to answer pms privately, so as to not spam the blog with them. The reason pms get posted publicly is either they are asking a question that I think is of interest to all of you, or are from a particularly obnoxious person that will not stop harassing me.

To those pm-ing me: Please extend me the minimum of courtesy you would when talking to a real person in real life. You know, I am one of those too.

I am generally a nice person and willing to answer all kinds of questions, but this is still my blog and I do not respond kindly to getting told what I can or cannot do here. Please note the part where this is my blog.

If you are rude, condescending or in any other way aggressive or offensive, do not expect me to respond in anything but kind.

Personal questions:

Sure, go ahead and ask, I will answer to a reasonable extend, but can you please asked those logged in. I do not want to post that kind of info in the blog for everyone to see. Thanks.

About disagreeing with me:

I have no issues with having arguments, I can make mistakes, there can be legit disagreements in how to interpret something. What I have issues with is people not bringing facts. ‘Because I say so’ is not proof. I bring facts and so can you.

On a final note: Snark is not my angry voice, it’s my 'seriously, what now?’ voice. You’ll know when I’m truly angry, because I am about as subtle as Toph.
